July Part 1

July Updates - part 1

- We went on a family vacation to South Dakota with Ryan's parents, his sister and her family. A special highlight was a surprise visit from Captain America at Mount Rushmore! Turns out he was a college student with an obsession for Captain America and a suit to wear at public affairs! He was sweet to pose with a loyal fan! Another highlight was Bear Country - where we got to see lots of fun animals up close! The twins are still talking about our trip!

June 2008

June Highlights:

- VBS at church! Mommy was a music leader and Emma and Riley were great students! Favorite songs were Amazing Grace (which they have lovingly refered to as "the blind man song" sing they were 2) and Untitled Hymn. Emma broke down during the performance because her friend stole the show (literally - she moved in front of Emma on stage and hid Emma from Daddy's view). The chaos continued when Riley had to be pulled off the stage bawling because he was upset seeing Emma in distress. Mommy tried to hand them off to Daddy, solve the problem and continue leading the program all at the same time! It was sort of a circus show, but it ended okay. Emma returned to the stage, along side another friend - and Riley remained content on Grandma's lap! Proves to show that you never know what to expect!

- A trip to Minneapolis for Mom and Dad's Anniversary (and mommy's work conference). The twins had a blast at the Como Zoo - and the hotel swimming pool!

A Perfect Ending to May

Ryan read about this "Breakfast on the Farm" in our midweek and knew we had to call my parents and try it out. We met in Rollag (home of the big thresherman's show) and sat down to a huge breakfast!

If you look closely, you'll see Emma and I down at the end. Riley's sporting his cool shades! Emma lost hers somewhere on the farm, despite our efforts to hunt them down!

Grandpa was thrilled to find the same model of tractor that he overhauled and drove to school when he was in highschool! Riley thought the tactors were pretty fun!

Emma was excited about the Merry Go Round. Grandpa was a sport and rode around with her. The rest of us weren't too eager to go around and around and around!

The farm had super fun barrel train cars to drive. The twins had fun driving around the farm!

We even got to see a horse get his toe nails manicured! If you look closely, Emma and Riley are in the left corner with Grandpa.

Emma enjoyed the petting zoo! She even found a monkey that shared her name (Emma Jean). We discovered where she got her agility from!

We're all ready for summer now! We've even gotten out on our boat a couple of times. We're ready for the sunshine, even though we're learning patience through this rainy week!

A Light at the end of the Tunnel

I don't know about the rest of you, but our household was started to feel a little taxed toward the end of the winter season! May brought a small light at the end of our tunnel, and as the month went on, the light got brighter. In May, we managed to complete our first year of preschool, our first session of gymnastics, our year of Club 3:16, another year of Sunday School (including mom's job of leading music and dad's helping with 6th graders), Thursday morning kids group (Mom's project), a semester of teaching at MSUM (another one of Mom's projects), and Mom's annual Mothers of Multiples Rummage Sale. Whew! We're looking forward to summer! Check out the pics below to get a peek of our fun in gymnastics.

A trip to Mpls in May

At the beginning of May we took a little trip to Mpls. Ryan took the day off and brought the twins to the Children's Museum while I attended a trauma conference. The highlights of the weekend (for them!) were the real life village (espcially playing Dr. and police), face painting and the forrest. Riley was a trooper and tried the face painting, but promptly cleaned his face afterward. Emma, on the other hand, kept her beautiful creation on all day so that she could greet me at my conference with a surprise! Overall, the weekend was a hit!
